Air North: Children Flying Alone

What is Air North's (4N) Unaccompanied Minor Service?

An unaccompanied minor (UM) is a child travelling without the supervision of a parent or guardian, and who is between the age of 5 and 11 (inclusive). Children under the age of five, or over the age of 12, may not fly as unaccompanied minors.

What age does my child have to be to qualify as an Unaccompanied Minor?

The service is mandatory for children ages 5-11 traveling without an adult who is at least 18 years old. Young travellers who are 12 years of age or older may not travel as unaccompanied minors, and must travel on an adult ticket. If requested, they may be met and assisted by Air North's gate agents.

What are the fees associated with this service?

Unaccompanied minors must pay the applicable adult fare at the time of booking. No additional fees are collected with the possible exception of excess baggage or seat selection fees.

How much time will be required for check-in?

In order to ensure that all information is correctly filled out, it’s important that the unaccompanied minor is checked in at least 90 minutes prior to departure. Please note that the parent or guardian will be required to remain until up to 15 minutes after the flight has departed before leaving the airport. Upon arrival, the child will be brought to the Air North (4N) arrivals area to meet the guardian who is picking up the child.
